How to water orchids is probably one of the hardest things to figure out, when growing orchids. This is where most of the mistakes happen, that lead to dying of the orchid, this is where most of the successful orchid growing fails. How orchids should be watered, how much water they require at a certain period of season, depends on a lot of factors. These factors are temperature, air movement, light, type of the substrate, period of growth and the type of orchid specie or hybrid. To water your orchids properly, with as least mistakes as possible, these factors have to be considered.

Even though we love orchids and other plants, there comes the time when we need to go away from home, to go on a holiday or a short vacation. This means we won’t be able to take care for our orchids for at least 14 days to three weeks. There might not be any other significant problems with orchid care during that time, but to supply them with enough water. The goal is to prevent orchids to get too dry and in worst case for the orchids to die from being too dry. There are some things you can do, to prevent the worst scenario.

Watering your orchids also depends on the season, stage of the annual grows the orchids are in during a year.

Good water for orchids should be a little sour and soft. It is not hard to gather and supply this kind of water in small quantities. But if someone has a bigger collection of orchids that need to be watered, there are some preparations needed to gather larger amount of water, especially during summer when orchids have to be watered quite often, some even daily.
